World/101/Plan B/Prime/Alien Workshop at Romford 1994

(10.0MB, quicktime)
Back in the early/mid 90s there used to be the big Radlands summer comps that would draw over most of the American teams and pros. If you got lucky and went to Romford on the following Monday there was a good chance you would see alot of the pros skating an almost empty skatepark before going up to Harwich for the ferry to Europe for the rest of the summer comps. In 1995 in was the Santa Cruz team but in 1994 it was the World Industries, 101, Plan B, Prime and Alien Workshop companies that showed their face at Essex's finest old skatepark. Good friend of the Network ChasOne was there filming and alot of the Monster Network OGs were there in attendance. An incredible day. Markovich's snakerun ollie still leaves people in confusion. The photo taken by Big Brother's Rick Kosick was used for the tour article in Big Brother magazine. Kosick also took a posse shot of the Network crew although sadly that has never seen the light of day!
Filming and Editing : Chris Thomas/Chas One.
Skaters: Colin McKay, Natas, Hensley, Markovich, Dill, Kareem, Caine Gayle, Jeremy Wray, Fred Gall...
Can anyone name anyone else? Other skaters there that day were Mike Crum...can anyone remember anyone else who was there? Comment your memories of the day...
p.s. Awaiting LBDs embaressing story...

BGP for the gorm ...

i get FGP i think (foreground props). when hensley is in the moguls my black and white stripy top pops in and out of the frame. i think that might be me...
where you at gorm?
Didn't Plummer do a trade with Ronnie Bertino that day?
Pat Duffy played Stairway To Heaven for me and Barry on his guitar.
Jason Maxwell told Barry that the best remedy for his sore knee was "maybe don't fall on it".
The one and only Alvin Singfield was in attendance, ponytail et al.
A few months later Transworld ran a piece featuring photos from this day of Jason Dill backside ollieing the funbox hip and Ethan Fowler ollieing the spine on the little nightmare miniramp.
Colin McKay skated that ramp like it was the most perfect 3ft mini instead of the whippy bottle coping monster everyone else knows it to be.
Mike Crum dropped in on the huge vert wall of the capsule pointing out that it was easy if you "knew what to expect".
Mike Santasrossa was there having beaten Carroll to win Radlands the day before.
Lots of pros were sporting "World Tour '94" (bongs, brews, bitches & boards) and "Enter The Pu-Tang" tees.
The embarrassing (well, not really) story: we were talking to the Prime team all sat in their van. The older lot were sat on the grass being mellow; we young 'uns were right in there talking crap to Markovich, Jason Maxwell, Caine Gayle, Mike Santarossa, Mark Oblow, someone they said was Hosoi but we thought was Donger (it wasn't either) and Mike Crum. Crum had recently had an interview in R.A.D. where they pointed out that he did his frontside flips inside the legs i.e. the Muska way. At the time R.A.D. pointed out that this was, well, rad. And I decided to tell Mike Crum exactly what they'd said. Except that I said something along the lines of "you do your frontside flips funny" to which he took offence. Though I was too naive to realise that and just kept on trying to make my point. I forget what happened after that.
The Rom is in fucking LONDON you thickies,You aint claiming this one
Love from plaistow patricia

I'm aware of how weird I'll be round him so I make sure i'm either silent on sarcastic.

Oh and I think Romford used to be Essex, but now comes under the London borough of havering.
