Old Chelmsford Bus Station...

We flexed our cat burglar skills back on 28th November 2004 for a final skate before the derelict Chelmsford bus station main building was due for demolition. A major Chelmsford skate spot for well over a decade, its painted curbs, stairs, little driveway and most of all its benches are still missed. Digging in the old 'Lately' tapes we found this footage of LBD skating the previously insta-bust dirty maintenance ledge as a fond fairwell. not long after in early 2005 the building was flattened. Today its an almost finished new bus station and swanky flats. Those black marble ledges out front are so so close to being a good spot too but just not quite there!

PG, isn't there some footage of you switch frontside nosesliding this ledge during the very same session?
erm...not exactly! i was in the middle of my knee duldrums at the time and fell over focusing my board. the footage is tragicomic (10 bonus vocab points for correct word useage)! i'll post it up next week...
was talking to russ about this clip, it wasn't long before you shipped off to sunnier climes...you literally went from the worst that life could offer (filthy chelmsford spot) to the best (sunny new zealand spots by the ocean)! well done.
Watching yourself stress on video is a good exercise in humility. Seems so dumb after the fact!
But I remember you were in a bit of a bad way with the knee - stressful skate after stressful skate. That made your Lately part even sicker (which funnily enough I watched today, along with the Wellington postcard you put together).
Been real nice weather here for the last few weeks and I've been skating loads. Still can't slide them frontside tailslides though!
Bad knees are bad. fact.. the kerbs in the bus lane were ace and you could slidy madness as you inhaled deeply on diesel fumes. ;]
I'm up for a knee trade if anyone is willing??
